The SSIG is a student-led group catered to physical therapy students on issues and topics relevant to students and rising early-career professionals. Being involved with APTA Maryland as a student gets you noticed, makes great connections with future employers, and demonstrates you are serious about YOUR profession. Learn about leadership opportunities that vary in time and responsibility.
Every month APTAMD’s SSIG hosts a fireside chats. Informal conversations about our profession in an open and welcoming environment. These online opportunities will allow students to ask questions and gain insights from each guest star. E-mail us with topic/speaker suggestions.

If you’re a student, you’re concerned about paying off your student loans, increasing diversity on campuses and in the profession, being paid fairly for your services, and having access to patients once you graduate.
Here are two ways way to advocate for these and other issues important to you and to the profession.

- National Advocacy Dinner April 1-30. Let us know if your school can host and what date and we will provide speakers and dinner.
APTAMD Annual Conference and Student Programming is November 1, 2025
Join us this fall for a student-focused track at our annual conference that will include a variety of sessions that will not only cover PT and PTA students’ concerns in the here-and-now, but larger professional and societal issues.
We will also have opportunities for you to meet with local employers and learn about the various practice areas and settings through our speed dating session.

APTAMD DEI $2,000 Scholarship
Applications accepted June 1 – July 4.
Must be an APTAMD 2nd or 3rd year DPT or PTA student member in good standing and with a set graduation date.
The scholarship supports the Chapters’ strategic plan on creating a more inclusive association that better reflects those whom we serve.
