The Maryland Board of Physical Therapy Examiners.

The Maryland Board of Physical Therapy Examiners handles all continuing education approval and licensure of PTs and PTAs. CEU regulations are defined through our statutes and regulations – Code of Maryland Regulations|  Continuing Education Requirements.  The Board of Examiners Web Site has an online application.

Licensees Must Have Earned 30 contact hours for a PT, or 20 contact hours for a PTA
General Information

According to the Maryland Board of Physical Therapy Examiners, Licensees are not required to take courses that are only on the “Approved” list. Please review the regulations.

Licensees: may request, at no expense, for the Board to review a continuing education course if it is not on either the approved or non-approved lists. Please submit your request and course content supporting documents to khadija.ali1@maryland.gov Please put “Licensee CEU Review Request” in the subject line

New Grads: CEUs will not be required if your license was issued one year or less before the renewal period.

First Renewal Period: all health occupations must take an approved implicit bias course by the Office of Minority Affairs for their first renewal period.

If you fail to renew your license by its expiration date, you may be eligible for Reinstatement but only by meeting all requirements.
