The Medicare Payment Cuts: Help with the Opposition Needed

What you need to know about the cuts’ origins, the system that created them, and the ways APTA has been advocating for the profession.

As it did for 2021, The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services once again has proposed severe cuts to multiple health professions’ payment in the 2022 Medicare physician fee schedule — including an estimated 3.5% cut to physical therapy. This APTA regulatory review briefly explains the proposal. We’ve made it easy for members and nonmembers to take action to oppose these cuts by contacting Congress and CMS in just a few clicks.

Understandably, there are a lot of questions regarding the policy. APTA is committed to providing as many answers as possible to help the profession fight this proposal in a knowledgeable way, with a unified voice.

Read APTA’s latest article that takes a deeper dive into what this policy is, why we’re where we are today, what we’ve been doing to fight this cut, and what we need to do next.
