✅ Assessment of Competency: Must include passing score and relate to the learning objectives

✅ Course Review and Evaluation: Mechanisms must exist for review and evaluation of the quality and the effectiveness of the continuing competence activity. Subsequent offerings incorporate modifications based on information gained from the review and evaluation.

✅ Instructor Qualifications: Must be dated and instructor must have an active license

Continuing Education Application Fee: $100.00 (Payment Center – CE Application)

  • Sponsor application must be sent in at least six weeks in advance of the course date.
  • A fee of $100 per application will be charged. Vendors can pay online or by Check.
  • A continuing education course taken before Oct. 1, 2018 shall qualify for Dry Needling instruction if the same course, in substantially similar form, is later sponsored by the American Physical Therapy Association, the APTA Maryland, or the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy.
  • CE hour means a period of 60 minutes in which the licensee is engaged in a learning activity
  • ​CE hour does not include any portion of CE devoted to registration, breaks, social networking, or meals
  • Approved CE certificates and advertisements shall contain the following statement:
    ​”This continuing education has been approved by the Maryland State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners for ____ CE hours.”
  • The provider shall submit to APTAMD  for approval any CE changes, such as changes in: instructor, agenda, content, learning outcomes, instructional objectives, or length
  • APTAMD shall approve the CE for a period of 4 years
  • At the expiration of the 4 year approval period, the provider may resubmit the CE
  • If dissatisfied with the outcome, the vendor may resubmit additional or clarifying information for re-evaluation. Each paid submission to APTAMD is granted one free re-evaluation; subsequent submissions require a new application fee of $100.

Per Maryland state regulation, COMAR 10.38.08.04 A(5), If an instructor is not licensed by the Maryland Board of Physical Therapy Examiners or does not hold a Maryland compact privilege and plans to perform physical therapy in conjunction with the CE in the State of Maryland, an application for a restricted license must be obtained from the Board.
