Outstanding PTA Award

In honor of the 50th year of the PTA, the APTA Maryland developed an award that recognizes individual achievements of a physical therapist assistant member who has provided clinical services for a minimum of 5 years. This award honors individual achievements in the areas of patient care, community service, and commitment toward the profession and Chapter.

Deadline for submission is September 1.

Awardees

The Richard T. Peret Jr. Distinguished Service Award

The Richard T. Peret Jr. Distinguished Service Award is presented to one or more individuals who have shown a strong commitment to and/or have had a dramatic effect on the physical therapy profession, although recipients do not have to be PTs or PTAs. The award is presented by the president of APTA of Maryland, Inc., at the Annual Fall Meeting. 

Deadline for submission is September 1.

Past Awardees

The Henry O. and Florence P. Kendall Award

The Kendall Award was established as a way for the APTA of Maryland to honor its members for outstanding contributions to the field of physical therapy. This award is presented at the Fall Meeting.

Nominees should be:

  • Physical therapists or physical therapist assistants who have demonstrated outstanding service to the profession of physical therapy in the area(s) of patient care, supervision, administration, education, and/or research.
  • Physical therapists or physical therapist assistants who have participated and been a dominant force in activities that have significantly affected chapter or professional growth and development.

Deadline for submission is September 1.

Stephen M. Levine Award

In memory and honor of Stephen Levine. The Stephen M. Levine award was established to recognize a member who exemplifies the contributions made to the profession by Stephen M. Levine, PT, DPT, MSHA, FAPTA.  This award is presented at the Fall Chapter Meeting.  Nominees should be physical therapists or physical therapist assistants who demonstrate leadership in the APTA at a state and/or national level, advocate for the profession at the state and/or national level, and are a role model for professionalism.

Deadline for submission is September 1.

Carol H. Zehnacker Advocacy Award

In memory and honor of Carol Hamilton Zehnacker. The Carol H. Zehnacker award was established to recognize a member who has demonstrated the most support or fostered the growth of the Physical Therapy profession through legislative efforts as exemplified by the contributions made to the profession by Carol Zehnacker.

Deadline for submission is September 1.

The Student Leadership Award is presented to one or more individuals who exhibit superior scholastic ability and potential for future professional contribution. The award is presented by the president of APTA of Maryland, Inc., at the Annual Fall Meeting.
